Every time I “failed”, I would go into a spiral of shame and self-judgment that would leave me paralyzed and depressed. Even a small thing like forgetting to send an email would send me into feelings of self-criticism and worthlessness. To cope, I used addictive behaviors to distract myself and numb myself out. I felt helpless, and didn’t know how to change.
