Lorazepam is an anti-anxiety drug, like Xanax. But with a longer duration of action and greater sedative impact than the latter. It is used for the short-term relief of anxiety symptoms associated with anxiety disorder, anxiety due to depression, and anxiety associated with severe pain. Lorazepam has some benefits over other benzodiazepines; it has less effect on learning and memory functions and does not change the personality of a person. It also causes less drowsiness than the others; thus the effect may be delayed if taken without food.
Lorazepam is used for treating anxiety disorders, trouble sleeping, active seizures, and other conditions.
