The diversity of his work reflects his insight into different cultures and his dedication to an impressive variety of topics. Markus Heimbach was born near Cologne in 1960 and lived in Amman/Jordan for the first seven years of his life. This region fascinates him up to present with its light, solitude and aridity. For the past 15 years he has made countless trips to the United Arab Emirates and Oman. Markus Heimbach has avoided any type of given photographic philosophy – moreover he follows his own instincts and ideas. His claim to quality: aesthetics and precision. In nearly three decades he has created numerous video films, photo books and travel guide magazines from Alaska to Oman, from the cold shores of the North Sea to the green meadows of the Alps in good old Germany. Markus Heimbach lives in Hamburg and Dubai.
