About Judith Seng

Judith Seng is researching the possibilities to expand design practise through a performative approach in relation to the material. Her work is staged both in applied daily life as well as international exhibition and academic contexts. For example she co-developed the transdisciplinary, practise-based research project Design Reaktor Berlin at University of the Arts Berlin that explored exemplary production scenarios in the post-industrial context of Berlin. As Fellow of the Graduate School of Arts and Science at UdK Berlin she initiated the experimental production series ACTING THINGS in which process design is explored with elements and methods from the performative arts and was amongst others commissioned for design miami/basel 2013. Most recently she was artist in residence at Villa Kamogawa by Goethe_Insititut in Kyoto/Japan in order to develop the 6th ACTING THINGS experiment to be staged at Kyoto Art Center in summer 2017.

Since 2005 she runs her own studio in Berlin. She was professor in design at HDK Valand Gothenborg, visiting professor at Kunsthochschule Kassel and University of Arts and Design (Burg Giebichenstein) in Halle, Germany.
