Fotoreportage“Nosotres – Lives beyond binarism”
Granada, Spain
„The reportage was realised in Spain to tell the story of five trans people, four women and a man. The title (‘Nosotres’) does not mean anything in Castilian, but for the spanish trans community it is really important: it is used not to create distinction in the binary and heteronormative society. The purpose of the reportage is to get to know new styles of life with different immages about being trans and to destroy stereotypes. The photographic storytelling is split up in a sequence of immages, which want to show the normality and the daily routine of those lives, avoiding the stereotyped representation spread by the medias.
Italy, sadly, owns the european murders’ record of transexual and transgender people: 30 in the last eight years, based on the world’s report of 2016 of the victims of transphobic violence.
The comparison with other european’s Countries is disheartening: in the same period 8 transgender were killed in Spain, as many in Great Britain. Between the Countries which border the Mediterranean, only Turkey has a worst balance: 43 victims.“
